Yes, kittens do really need kitten food as they have specific nutritional requirements adult and senior cats don't share. For kittens to grow and develop into healthy and happy cats, they need the right nutrients and diet to support them. By opting for foods formulated solely for kittens, you can support healthy growth and satisfy them as well.

Most brands will include feeding guidelines on their packaging. This is a daily portion recommendation for your kitten to make sure you're not underfeeding or overfeeding.

Your vet will be able to provide a more personalised diet plan, but in general, it is recommended kittens are fed several meals a day until they are 6 months old.

Kittens are start being weaned from their mother's milk and fed kitten food at around 4 weeks of age. By 8 weeks of age, most kittens are eating solids foods only.
